The character of Marky d Clown was born out of the comedy club scene in Anchorage, Alaska in the early 1980’s. Mark, the actor/comedian, performed in dinner theatres, melodramas, improvisations groups, and the various theatre companies in Anchorage. He tested the waters with stand-up comedy, and acted as emcee for events like the Advertising Federation’s BONNIE awards. His television commercials were numerous, including a series for Alascom and United Building Supply. Stretching his comedic skills, he played many characters in the local television show, “Mr. Mike’s Mystery Theatre.” He started writing melodramas for various tent city performances, and in the middle 80’s formed his own entertainment company with his wife, PJ.

While portraying Shakespearean characters, nerds, country singers, and very odd combinations from audiences, the clown character began to come forth. Mark started practicing balloon animals, and about two years after he made his first one, he was ready to try it in front of audiences.

Marky has been performing as a balloon clown for over fifteen years. He has been seen at Trick or Treat Town, the Holiday Food and Gift Festival, The Taste, Solstice in Spenard, the Alaska State Fair, Anchorage Aces games, Northstar Speedway, August Festival, Freedom Days Festival, Mat-Su Miners games and company parties like Wonder Bread, Alyeska, British Petroleum, Napa, Coca-Cola, Arco, Label Shoes, Famous Footwear, Magnum Electronics, and too many others to name.

He can make hundreds of different balloon animals and has created his own original balloon hats, and can make pleasing and fun balloon art. His entertainment is suitable for kids from 2 to 102! His magic is contagious —everybody smiles and laughs after being treated to Marky’s brand of humor.
